The 40-year-old club was the venue for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games lawn bowls event. With a budget of $4.0 Million, this all-encompassing external and internal renovation involved stripping the club house back to its concrete floor, steel frame and roof.
Broadbeach Bowls Club has is in the heart of the Gold Coast’s Broadbeach area providing its members and local residents with hospitality services and an international standard sporting venue. The Club house had really aged and weathered with its close proximity to the ocean.
HHH was engaged to create a refurbishment that would attract a new generation of bowlers and continue to support a provide as a world class sporting venue. The building was stripped back to its floor and roof, exposing its steel frame whereby we removed forty years worth of salt corrosion, miles of old wiring and everything in between. Even with such extensive works the design cost only half the budget for a new building.
Staged construction allowed trading to continue throughout the building process. Combining the main bar and the sports bar has reduced staffing and every square metre of the existing building was repaired or altered in some way. In 2018 this clubhouse was host of the lawn bowls competition for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
